My older generation monitor (Acer B286HK) required a DisplayPort cable to transmit a 4K picture from my PS5, and this cable helped do the job.
I have a 2020 MBP and the CalDigit T3 hub, and was using the DP port on the dock to the DP port on the monitor, but that didn't really work (any time the computer would go to sleep it wouldn't be able to turn the monitor back on). Thinking that HDMI input on the monitor would be better, I got a random DP->HDMI cable at a local store, and that didn't work at all. I then googled CalDigit's documentation, and it says "if you use DP->HDMI cable, you need an active one". Went onto the website, searched for an "active DP->HDMI cable", found this one, bought it, and it works fine, no issues.
My video card only has 1 HDMI port so I had to use one of the DisplayPort outputs to run to a second monitor. This cable allows a 4k60 signal to the second monitor. Perfect!
