Q1: Can I plug this into my external hard drive and be able to connect to it via WiFi?
No, our usb network adapter is designed to connect a router or computer, even if you can connect it to your external hard drive, you can not read the data from the driver.

Q4: Will the USB network hub work if I plug this in the wall and add another one to my router the wall so it goes through the whole house?
Sorry, this 1000 Gigabit Wired LAN Network Adapter can not work for your demand. This RJ45 Internet Adapter can only add an ethernet port for your laptop.
Needed a few USB 3.0 Ethernet adapters for my Intel Nuc, these worked out perfectly!!
My housemate needed Ethernet connection to play his game, but he only had a USB outlet on his TV. Your special adapter fixed the problem, and he is very happy I ordered the correct one. lol
I needed to connect a new laptop to a Cat-5 ethernet network, but the machine did not have an ethernet port. This did the job out of the box, connecting to the Cat-5 through the laptop's usb port.
I was dubious about buying such an inexpensive product for my Nintendo Switch. This was simply the easiest upgrade I've done in some time. I was considering buying the new OEM Nintendo dock for the Switch (which includes an Ethernet port). This was a much less expensive option, and using it is simple as well.
Plug it into the switch, plug in ethernet cord.
Go into settings, and choose wired network.
Gigabit ethernet to the switch, what more could you want? I highly recommend this for Switch owners.
Simple product that provides Ethernet to my MacBook Pro
